EnershareHub joins the partnership for the sustainable modernisation of Pisa Military Airport

On 21 July 2021, Leonardo presented the programme for the technological modernisation and energy refurbishment of Pisa Military Airport, home to the Italian Air Force’s 46th Air Brigade. The initiative involves Teledife, the Italian Air Force and a temporary consortium formed by Leonardo, Enel X and EnershareHub.

A partnership between defence and industry

The contract was signed by the Directorate for IT, Telematics and Advanced Technologies of the General Secretariat of Defence and by the industrial consortium. The announcement describes it as the first public-private partnership in the Italian defence sector jointly focused on technological innovation and the energy efficiency of a military airport infrastructure.

The programme is structured as a 17-year project-finance concession. This model combines initial investment, long-term management and performance objectives, connecting system modernisation with lower energy consumption and operating costs.

Technology, systems and efficiency

The announced measures include upgrading the approach radar system and improving the energy performance of the infrastructure, buildings and technological systems serving air-navigation operations. The project aims to enhance reliability, safety and service quality while reducing environmental impact.

EnershareHub’s participation

EnershareHub’s presence in the consortium documents the involvement of a company connected with Sinergia Group’s industrial development in a complex infrastructure programme. The source assigns the radar-system activities to Leonardo but does not provide a complete allocation of the energy-related responsibilities among the other consortium members.

The initiative is a concrete example of technological expertise, energy engineering and project-finance tools being integrated within a strategic infrastructure project.
